Charles & Linda Couch

by Charles Couch

Charles's first motorcycling experience was in Montgomery, AL where he was born and raised. Charles and his older brother owned a Cushman motor scooter for a few years in high school before it was wrecked.

After meeting Linda at Troy State and getting married after graduation in 1965, Charles got back into biking again in 1973 and became the proud owner of a 1973 Yamaha TX500 motorcycle. Other bikes that he has owned have been a 1976 Yamaha XS 500, 1978 Yamaha XS 750, 1981 Yamaha XS 1100, 1988 Kawasaki Voyager VII, 1989 Honda Gold Wing, and presently a 1995 Honda Gold Wing SE.

During his riding career, he has amassed about 250,000 miles of riding and feels that the Gold Wings are by far the most competent and reliable bikes he has owned. He enjoys going to rallies and particularly likes Wings Over The Smokies and Bike Week.

Charles and Linda joined the Chapter in December 1988 and have deeply enjoyed the other members and the many rides that they have shared together. Linda's favorite ride is a dinner ride and Charles loves riding any time and any where.

Charles retired in 2000 from Astoria Park Elementary School as its principal and worked 35 years in Leon County as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and superintendent. Linda retired after 21 years as an elementary teacher.

They have two sons, Chris and Brent, who are currently FSU students. Besides motorcycling, Linda and Charles love to travel and have been to Canada, Mexico, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United Kingdom as well as most states, including Alaska.

Linda is a Tallahassee native, and her greatest love is tennis; she actively participates in local league play. Linda and Charles have enjoyed our Chapter very much and look forward to many more years of participation and enjoyment!
