David & Pat Ventry

by David Ventry

Pat and I both are from Apalachicola, FL. Yep, that's right, true Florida natives. Our mothers were best of friends when we were infants and I am told that we strolled together a lot from the beginning. So you see we have always been together, don't know any other way. We will have been married 36 years this August. Our family consists of one fine son and daughter-in-law; John and Angie in Birmingham, Alabama and a grand-dog named Kody, a Sheltie with an attitude. Our first grandchild is due in August and we can hardly wait!

We have lived in Apopka, Panama City and have resided in Tallahassee since 1977, where Florida State University first employed me as a chiller mechanic in the central utility plant. I was responsible for the maintenance and repair of four 1100-ton centrifugal chillers and associated equipment. Other jobs have included a service engineer with The Trane Co. as well as being self-employed. At present I am the Mechanical Manager with the Leon County School District, and I am responsible for all 130,000 pieces of air conditioning equipment in the district. If only I had the four chillers at FSU to maintain again, what a piece of cake. Pat is a Personnel analyst with the Leon County Schools.

We have been riding for three years, and our only bike owned is the 1998 1500 SE. My other hobby is sailing our Catalina 22.

Our best ride was 231 north out of Montgomery to Sylacauga Alabama. And our most interesting ride: getting past the guard at the gated community my aunt and uncle live in. Timing was everything, NO motorcycles are allowed!

Why I ride: Pure pleasure and stress relief. Did I mention PURE PLEASURE???
